Do you feel like you need to find calm, peace, alignment within yourself ? I suggest you discover 4 practical exercises to help you refocus on yourself . When you feel anxiety, stress, pressure assailing you... Practice one of these exercises and find that feeling of peace and fullness . Here are my 4 tips for returning to yourself and finding inner peace.
Why focus on yourself?
Refocusing on yourself means reconnecting with your desires, your aspirations, what makes you feel good. 🌸 Decrease the external noise and increase the volume of your own needs, what is important to you. Quite simply, it comes down to living according to your own desires and values, what is good for you.
Refocusing on yourself becomes vital when you are too scattered in your daily life. For example, when you can no longer concentrate on one thing or one person at a time.
This energy leak can unfortunately harm your identity, by focusing primarily on your obligations, others and the outside world… You deny your integrity and your (wonderful) personality . It’s like a vicious circle from which it is sometimes difficult to escape.
Focusing on yourself helps you to know yourself better , to understand your desires and your goals. It is the key to finding balance in a world where stress overwhelms you.
This is what makes you more serene and aligns you with what is important to YOU. I now suggest you discover 4 tips to help you refocus on yourself (including one that literally changed my life… shhhh, it’s yoga )
How to refocus on yourself? 4 tips
1 - Make time for yourself
The priority to truly refocus on yourself is to make time for yourself, even in a tight schedule.
To get there, you will have to make choices. And yes, even if you currently feel like you don't have this time resource... In reality, it's all a question of choices. You will have to learn to prioritize, without putting yourself aside.
If you need structure, you can use the Eisenhower Matrix for example. It can help because it allows you to classify tasks according to their urgency and importance.
Allow yourself to take these few minutes a day, essential to your inner peace, your joy, your happiness!
2 - Recognize your needs
To refocus, it is good to pay attention to what you really need. Our needs vary and may not be constant .
I invite you to take a step back, or rather take a step to the side, to observe your daily life at the moment:
- What do you think you're missing?
- What would make you feel better?
You can take a paper and a pen, and if nothing comes spontaneously (this can happen when you feel strong anxiety, you are disconnected from yourself and your emotions)... Then start by listing the 10 everyday pleasures that you can easily experience.
It's like a kind of introspection that you start like this. You know, positive emotions are easy to live with. But difficult ones can cause problems if you ignore them.
Sometimes it may seem wiser to want to ignore your sadness, anger or frustration at all costs. But it is better to learn to live with them and get through them in the long term.
Finally, keep in mind that it is crucial to realize what you need emotionally, physically and mentally to refocus on yourself .
3 - Cultivate a positive mentality
Are you aware of your own thoughts? Of this ease with which we ruminate, imagine the worst, prepare for the “difficult”?
What if you decided to switch ? To nourish positive and supportive thoughts about yourself, your life, what you accomplish?
Choosing to see the glass half full, rather than half empty?
It all starts with a decision, YOUR decision.
4 - Practice yoga (or restorative activities)
Finally, I slipped it to you in the preamble to this article... One of the things that has most transformed my life is the practice of Yoga (that's why I then became a yoga teacher, and why I created my brand Alma Lua).
Yoga is a gift that you offer to your body and your soul. It is an open door to more awareness of yourself, your thoughts, your body. By practicing yoga, you (re)discover yourself, you come back to the present moment, focused on your sensations.
You gain in amplitude, in available space, in your head and in your body. You know, you can start yoga with “nothing”. Just the desire to discover the practice.
Then, when you taste these benefits, your pleasure becomes rolling out your mat (and for magnificent poetic and flowery yoga mats click here).
Refocusing on yourself: the path to serenity
Refocusing on yourself is crucial to feeling better on a daily basis. I invite you not to wait until you are exhausted or sad to react. By using a few tips, such as giving yourself time, knowing your needs, thinking positively, practicing an activity like yoga… you can find peace and calm within yourself .
